When you go through loan documents, u will often find an Acceleration clause inside, which allows the bank to demand all future scheduled payments once there is a default under the loan agreement.
Today, i accelerated too. Was feeling damn sian at work so i sms’d RX-8 to see if he was back from Malaysia. Surprisingly, RX-8 was back in office already and said he was damn sian as well and asked me to meet for kopi. And from a afternoon kopi break, it accelerated to a quick walk around vivocity after work, then to Zen Shindo (or Zen something lah) at east coast for dinner and Gelare for dessert. Heh. (Or maybe this is called 近水楼台先得月… next bldg u know? 
).
During dinner, RX-8 and i chatted a lot and somehow we started talking about our family history. That’s when RX-8 said he was Hakka, and that his grandfather used to run a goldsmith business. My ears perked up immediately ‘cos…
Long time ago, my grandfather used to own a goldsmith shop with a Hakka partner. One day, when my grandfather was away for a business trip, the Hakka partner ordered a lot of gold jewellery and ran away with everything, leaving the payment (which were on credit terms) to my grandfather. Having no jewellery left to sell, my grandfather had to sell the shop in order to repay the debts. Since then, my family (we’re Cantonese) hates Hakka people.
I told RX-8 the story and when i finished… we started eyeing each other warily… *Try to imagine tension in the air*. Then a deluge of jokes about how we were going to finish each other off once dinner ended started flying. Haha.
Anyway, got home at 11pm. Got Iceman away from his mahjong game to chat with me online. Iceman said he was confused ‘cos from his earlier conversation online with RX-8… it didn’t appear that the latter was keen in anything more than “chillin’ out”.
But i said to be really rational about it, it’s just a testdrive for both sides right? And what people do during test drives is to suss the other party out. Suss, sussing, sussed. Don’t you just love that word? Haha. (Got that from Iwok).
And just like any accelerated loan payments, you can always work out a rescheduling plan.
