It’s been more than a month since the Tohoku earthquake & tsunami devastated Japan. The nuclear plants are still damaged and no one knows the totality of the damage. I’ve thought about this a few times but am still unable to understand why on earth did Japan choose to use nuclear power. Japan has huge energy needs. Yes yes. I know all that. But… for a country that suffered 2 atomic bombs, shouldn’t they, of all people, know how painful a nuclear fallout could be? Sigh. I just don’t get it.
