Living It Up

dear fans of the most desirable Pinky,

it has been some time since i wrote to everyone.  i have been doing fine.  life was good and there was little to complain about… till my chef cum chauffeur decided to go to Germany.  he handed over the duty of serving my gourmet meals to my maid but she’s such a lazy worker.  instead of serving my dinner daily at 7pm, she has been serving it to me at 9pm.  "working late" was her excuse.  gosh.  what work could be more important that ensuring that my needs & wants are met?

my mom & i nearly died of starvation tonight when our dinner arrived at 9:10pm.  don’t these minions know that we bunnies need to eat constantly to ensure that our digestive system doesn’t shut down for good?  skipping a meal could be fatal you know. 

in addition, instead of giving my mother and me yummy pellets every night, she has been skimping on it and substituting half the serving with hay.  putting me on a diet for health reasons, she claims.  oh the torture my poor little soul has to suffer.  thank goodness my breakfast is taken care of by my maid’s mom.

even the long suffering auntie Peanut was miserable.  sigh.  this global downturn is hitting us bunnies badly too.  everybunny’s feeling the gloom & doom.  i sure hope my chauffeur comes home soon.

Actually "daring" is an under statement… "absolutely fearless" is a more accurate description.

There was total chaos, bordering on anarchy in the Forbidden City last night.  After my dad flew off to HK/Germany on Thursday morning, the bunnies had to stop their usual routine of visiting one another’s enclosure.  (Horlicks & Pinky share 1 enclosure while Peanut & Coffee share another enclosures.  My dad has a nightly routine of taking turns to lock one pair of bunnies up in their individual cages and let the other pair into the locked bunnies’ enclosure.  We have to do this ‘cos Coffee will fight with Horlicks and Pinky). 

Anyway, at about 1am plus last night, I was about to shower when my mom called & said that Horlicks had breached the wire fence separating the 2 enclosures and was engaging Coffee in a fight in Coffee’s enclosure.  In the ensuing chaos, the best my mom could do was to take a polycarbonate sheet to separate the 2 fighting bunnies.  Peanut was terrified & crouched in a corner in her cage.  Pinky… well… Pinky was just nonchalant.  In fact, he took the opportunity to finish all the pellets in Horlicks’ food tray before eating the pellets in his.  Greedy boy.

I tried to carry Horlicks to put her back into her enclosure but erm, her butt was a little wet from spraying urine across Coffee’s enclosure (a sign of marking her territory… it’s the way bunnies harass one another… like how loansharks splash red paint outside defaulting borrowers’ homes) so I didn’t really want to hug her against me.  In the end, I had to lift up the wire fence separating the 2 enclosures and literally push Horlicks back into her territory. 

Next, Iceman and I had to calm all the bunnies down (except Pinky who was still eating) as they were all very agitated.  I was quite worried the stress would give them a heart attack.  My mom, Iceman and I deliberated quite a while over how to prevent Horlicks from jumping over to Coffee’s side again.  Horlicks is quite a high jumper and so it’s extremely easy for her to jump over the wire fence which is about slightly above my knee (I’m 1.62m tall… sorry I can’t quite estimate the height of the fence).

We ended up using a polycarbonate sheet to separate the 2 enclosures as it’s about waist high.  Iceman and I also coaxed Pinky and a sulking Horlicks into the backyard to allow them to run a bit.  That seemed to pacify Horlicks (she has sooo much pent up energy). 

Decided to follow my dad’s nightly routine tonight… which meant taking turns to allow the bunnies to have a free run of the entire side yard and front porch area.  I think they were all happy with the exercise.  Certainly hope this would discourage Horlicks from launching another attack on Coffee!  Sigh.

Ok.  That’s a pretty mashed up title.  Iceman bought a Nikon D90 recently and guess who had the honour of being the first pic the camera took?

Yup.. it’s Muah Chee!!  He was extremely honoured.

Horlicks’ the most daring of all my bunnies (ever).  All my other bunnies will run away in fear when my car stops at the main gate & the headlights shine into the garden.  Horlicks, however, will run towards the glare of the headlights to see what’s the fuss about.  Not your usual bunny behaviour. 

Ever since my dad started letting Horlicks come into the house for a nightly run, she has explored the entire ground floor of my house.  Bored with the ground floor, she has now taken to running up the stairs.  It started with a slow & tentative climb up the stairs.. now, she just bounces up and hops down.  Heh.  Here’s a video of Horlicks.

Pinky has always been afraid of going up the stairs but my dad tells me that he can now be persuaded to follow Horlicks up the stairs.  Heh.  Hope to get a video of him doing that soon.

dear fans of me, the great, handsome and worthy to be worshipped Pinky,

my life was in grave danger just now.  a horrible horrible vagrant cat, jealous of my mom’s and my opulent lifestyle in the forbidden city palace tried to break through our fortified boundary walls! 

my mom and i heard the cat pacing along the boundary wall.  up and down, up and down.  it was looking for any weakness to break in.  there was little we could do except to freeze in our tracks and wish it would go away.  thankfully, my maid came down to say goodnight and chased the cat away.

*miffed*.  i think cats should be banned from coming within 1km radius of me.  hmph.  i shouldn’t be subjected to such distress.

Peanut is a yoga master.

She says with the correct breathing technique, this half-out-of-the-cage position is very comfortable.

Coffee thinks black and white photos work just fine.

Pinky doesn’t really like the idea but he’s a camwhore anyway.

Horlicks looks regal - with colour or otherwise.

Took some photos of the bunnies the other day… unfortunately, the green plastic shelter thingy that was installed to provide shade to the bunnies caused my pics to be cast with a horrible green light!  :(  Tried to use Adobe Photoshop to rectify but couldn’t get the colour right.  I’m not good with Photoshop.  Sigh.  Go I need to confess… these photos are in black and white not ‘cos I was trying to be arty farty… but ‘cos the colour failed me.

My dad lets Pinky come into our house every day for his daily run around the house.  Pinky likes to explore the various corners of the living room, the dining room and the kitchen.  His usual route is to come in through the front door and then exit through the kitchen door at the back. 

My dad decided to give Horlicks a treat today by allowing her to come into the house too.  Horlicks rarely gets to come indoors because she has a habit of peeing to mark her territory once she eyes a piece of real estate she likes.  (For example, she has a daily routine of peeing at the same spot next to Coffee’s cage… it’s her gangster way of telling Coffee that she’s eyeing his house).

Anyway, Pinky played the role of a tour guide for Horlicks, showed her around the house, pausing and turning back to look at Horlicks whenever she failed to keep up with him.  After they finished a tour of the house, my dad shoo-ed them back to the side yard via the sliding doors along the side of the house.  Once they were outside, my dad closed the sliding doors. 

Pinky, however, had a different idea.  His intention was to escort Horlicks out before coming back to play some more.  He stood up and pressed his paws against the sliding door but my dad said, "No boy boy.  Play play over".  Pinky didn’t think so.  He immediately scooted round to the back of the house and before my dad could guess his intention, he came back into the house through the kitchen door that was left open and ran up to my dad, stood in front of him and gave my dad the "yar yar papaya" (smug) look.

My dad couldn’t help but agree that Pinky was out-witted him this time.

Finally got down to sorting out the photos in my desktop computer - putting them into folders, etc, and backing up on my portable hdd.  Decided to post these lovely photos of the bunnies from July to Aug 2008 online.  I have many many photos of all the bunnies that have ever lived in my house before.  The sad thing is most bunnies do not have very long lifespans… I think it’s got to do with our hot tropical weather… so these photos are highly cherished ‘cos when these   bunnies move on to bunny heaven, these photos will be all I have to remember my darlings by.

Pinky is getting a little too chubby I think… thought he swears he wasn’t the one who broke the stool…

He got really unhappy when I told him he should lose some weight.

I felt bad when I saw him sulking but my apologetic pleas fell on deaf ears.

Only Horlicks managed to cheer him up by licking him.

Comforting Pinky made Horlicks hungry… so she climbed on top of him to reach her food tray.  Heh.

Peanut can be a homewrecker at times… look what she did to Coffee’s play house…

Oops… couldn’t get any photos of Peanut ‘cos it was too dark inside the box.  Haha.

Haven’t taken photos of the bunnies for some time.  They’re quite happily resettled at the side of the house… with Peanut & Coffee occupying 1 longish enclosure and Pinky & Horlicks occupying the other. 

Peanut, Coffee & Horlicks have maintained their looks and size… Pinky, like his late father, suffers from the scourge of the bulge.

It’s amazing how Pinky bears his daddy, Muah Chee’s features but yet his mom’s fur colours.

I was trying to get to the other side of the bunnies… wanted to get a clearer shot of Coffee.  His dark fur makes it really tough!

I’ve been trying to convince my dad to feed the bunnies (Pinky in particular) more healthful food like hay.  My mom cut out an article in the papers that talked about how pellets should only be fed as supplements because they are very fattening.  So my dad has reduced the amount of pellets he feeds them.  However, he increased the amount of grains!  Which are also fattening and should be given as treats!  Not on a daily basis!  But he refuses to listen to me.  SIGH!

My dad went to China last Thurs.  The first 2 nights, I got home relatively early so I took turns locking up Coffee + Peanut and Pinky + Horlicks, so each pair had their chance to run into the other pair’s enclosure space & "stretch their legs".

But I was really busy over the weekend and got home past 11pm the past 2 nights so the bunnies had to stay in their respective enclosures.  4 days of not "stretching their legs" proved too much for Horlicks and Pinky.  They have been banging on the door that separates the 2 enclosures the past few nights.  Tonight, my mom said the minute she got home, Pinky heard her footsteps and started mauling the door.  She said he was banging the door so hard, she thought the entire barrier would collapse!

Feeling sorry for Pinky and Horlicks and seeing that Coffee and Peanut happened to go back to their own cages, my mom locked Coffee and Peanut’s cages and opened the barrier door so Horlicks and Pinky could run freely.

Big mistake ‘cos the next thing she knew, Horlicks went and peed next to Coffee’s cage in order to mark territory.  Haha.  So now my mom has to hose down the yard floor.  I think she regrets giving in to Horlicks and Pinky.  Hehehehe.  They’re such naughty bunnies.

Haven’t posted anything lately ‘cos I’ve been really busy with work.  Been working late… and bringing work home too.  Great number of deals in the pipeline now and half of them are mine.  Not that it’s a bad thing being busy… at least it means I’m not going to be fired by the company anytime soon… (my company’s Australian office fired their PRI team).

We had a department meeting yesterday and I observed that Kid’s Meal is starting to get more comfortable in what she does.  Which is good.  I suppose my department could do with an employee who sticks with us beyond a 6-month period.  At least it helps things to stabilise around the department and my, what joy Kid’s Meal brings us right?

Heh.  She was put in charge of ordering lunch for us for the meeting yesterday (lunch meeting).  After placing our orders, she told the person on the other end of the line, "Our address is Singapore Land Tower, #72-00."

Just as I thought hey… she’s finally doing things right for once, she continues, "You know the address?"

(Short pause wherein I suppose the person said he/she wasn’t sure).

Kid’s Meal then says, "Oh ok… er… er… it’s Singapore Land Tower.  Yah… 72nd floor".

After she puts down the phone, KM says to Bigmac and me, "Wah.  Lucky I asked the person if she knew where our address is lor.  The person wanted to put down but lucky I clarified and gave her directions lor."

KM looked mighty pleased with herself.

But… but… what sort of directions did she give?

Sigh.

Anyway, this is totally veering away from the topic but Pinky is SUCH a cam whore!  He kept posing for photos when the other bunnies kept hopping about.  He even listened to my instructions to place his paws on the kerb for a nicer pose!  That vain pot!
