Journey to the West

Not only is this Easter weekend, it is also the first weekend of the Qingming Festival.  Finally made it down to visit my grandma’s grave at Lim Chu Kang.  Didn’t manage to go the past 2 years ‘cos of various reasons.

Crawled out of bed at 5:20am this morning… but didn’t complain.  Somehow i felt it was my duty to be on time even though i was never close to this grandmother.  (This is my paternal grandma).  Was closer to my maternal grandparents when they were alive.  (Never met my paternal grandfather ‘cos he passed away when my dad was a kid).

Took some photos… i was quite amazed by the rows and rows of gravestones.

Oh and in case anyone’s wondering… i didn’t offer joss-sticks though most of my relatives did.  Would have written about why i don’t want to hold joss-sticks now but i’m sleepy, have a few posts that i wanna post, and there’s nasi briyani waiting for me downstairs…

The rows and rows of tombstones.

Cleaning up my grandma’s plot.  (She’s the oldest amongst all her neighbours… born 1913, departed 2002).

Everything’s nicely decked out, and we left.

BTW, the lease for these plots are all 15-year lease.  Sigh.  Freehold is rare in SG.  Whether for the dead or living.
