不知辆力

Took the PIE to Iceman’s place just now when i saw this notice saying something about Nicoll Highway being closed.  The message on the electronic board along the highway was missing some spaces in between the words so i slowed my car down to read the message.  After i passed the board, i looked in my rear view mirror and noticed a yellow Citycab tailgating me.

I sped up till my speed was about 105kmh and that put a reasonable distance between the cab and my car.  However, when i reached a series of overhead bridges near Toa Payoh, i slowed my car down to not more than 100kmh before each overhead bridge ‘cos those bridges are notorious for being used by the Traffic Police in their speedcheck operations.

The stupid cab behind me then flashed his highbeam at me.  Duh!  The road limit at that stretch is 80kmh lor.  So even at 100kmh, i’m “speeding” already.  I decided to ignore the stupid cab and continue driving at 100kmh but the cabbie wasn’t happy.  He changed to the middle land (i was in the extreme right lane) and tried to overtake me.  Heh.  I kept up with him… but every time he wanted to overtake me, i would pick up speed and block him.  Heehee.  Four times the stupid cabbie tried to overtake me, and four times he didn’t manage to, and eventually was forced by the slower traffic in the middle lane to obediently change back to the lane i was in – behind my car.

The cabbie eventually went to the extreme left lane and exited at Adam Road in front of me.  Oh well, good for him.  I’ve never been into speed races with other cars on the highway ‘cos i think it’s dangerous, and i know the limitations of my Nissan Sunny.  (But that also means that i know that the good old trusty Sunny will not lose to an old diesel 2.0l cab in terms of pick up when travelling at 100kmh).  Anyway, i think i succeeded in irritating the cabbie.  Heh.  As Iceman puts it, too many people suffer from DOG (Delusions of Grandeur) and think they are capable of anything and everything.

Actually, had the cabbie succeeded in overtaking me, my Plan B was to blast him with my highbeam all the way.  Heehee.  That should be sufficiently irritating too.  Therein lies the difference between a male and a female driver.  Male drivers tend to be lured into a speed duel ‘cos they like to prove that their cars are bigger/better/faster.  Females, on the other hand, just adopt the biatch attitude at getting even.  Muahaha.

On my way home from Iceman’s place, i saw another cabbie suffering from DOG.  This time, the cabbie (driving a 2.0l cab) was challenging a Lexus.  Duh!  No prizes for guessing who won.  I mean… both cabs are not the new ones with turbo engines lor.  Sigh.  Like what Katrine has mentioned in her blog before, people ought to know the limitations of their vehicles.

And since we’re on the topic of delusions, Qingfu just said that my MSN avatar looks like Zhang Hui Mei.  Sigh.. again??  I get this comment off and on over the years… but i still disagree.  Plus, though A-mei is really famous and sings damn well.. she isn’t exactly know for her looks.  🙁  Sigh.
