The Nokia X6 is now available for pre-order from all Nokia stores in Singapore. I went down to the shop at Century Square and was told that to pre-order, you need to pay a deposit of $100, and the phone will be here before Christmas! So exciting. The advantage (as per the Nokia ad in the papers today) of pre-ordering is that you get a $30 Nokia store voucher (which according to the sales assistant at the Century Square store) that can be used to offset the price of the Nokia X6 – a whopping SGD1,038. :P A $50 esplanade mall voucher will also and some other freebie which I can’t recall at this point in time will also be given.
The pre-order will be open till 18 Dec. I asked the Nokia guy why wasn’t Nokia letting the telcos launch the X6 as well, since the X3 is now on sale at Nokia and all telcos. The guy said that the X6 is supposed to be Nokia’s “flagship†phone and meant to snatch market share from the iPhone (which I think is difficult since the Apple craze is really a personal preference thing).
Whatever the case, I don’t care. I just want my X6.. and I’m glad it’s coming before Christmas. Woohoo!
Nokia and their stupid idea. lol. In singapore, most consumers are tied to service provider contract, no matter how flagship, customer will prefer to recontract or signed up new contract. Why nokia SG have not wake up from their day dreaming? Wan to fight with iphone? lower the retail price, produce higher end specs. if not forget it. now going into 2010, ppl are not stupid.

1. The X6 will be launched by the local telcos in 1Q2010. Thus, consumers have the option of either getting the phone with, or without contracting with a telco. This versatility is not available officially for the iPhone.
2. If you choose to buy an unlocked iPhone 3Gs 32G online, the cost is around S$1,200 – 1,400, which is even more expensive than the X6 w/o plan.
3. How are the X6’s specs lousier than the iPhone’s? The X6 has video call capability, 5MP camera, 2 LED flash, web browser with Javascript & Flash support, option of T9 keypad or qwerty input (though the iPhone’s qwerty input can be considered “better” ‘cos it has auto-correct capabilities), 1-year Comes with Music licence, inbuilt radio capability, bluetooth function that is not restricted to headset only, microUSB port and customisable user profiles. The only thing that might be “lousier” is the X6’s processor, however, this might not be that relevant because the Symbian OS does not require a very high end procesor to support it.

Do not misunderstand me. I am pissed off because i had to wait so long for x6 and even iphone for starhub n m1 even had launched.
The only phone that i might use long might be x6. Hehe.
Sigh… i also wait very long liao. Today is the last day of the pre-order… so hopefully the phone will be launched this weekend!! Which colour do u intend to get? I want the white & blue set!!
